The Grand Adventure: Journey On for Kent

Hello my fellow noodles,

If you have made it to this little blog site you will likely be aware that I and my partner, Vinny, have embarked on a summer full of adventure traveling across the country in our little home on wheels.

Although summer is half way over and we have already traveled into 25 states so far, Vinny and I have told our story to folks near and far about our travels, and to my sweet surprise they want have expressed a desire to follow along and hear how our story unfolds,

Someone was so kind to say that we should write a book about this epic tale…

I don’t know about writing a whole book, but a blog sounds a bit more approachable for the time being. It will also help keep me (Sam) busy and off the ‘addictive-Tiny screen’ while Vinny works remotely throughout the week…

We have been sharing pictures and videos of our travels ‘here and there’ but so far when it comes to conistency, I have dropped a ball to keep up with our entire journey on Instagrams and Facebooks.

Although I love the idea and want to fully feel the need to share on Social media - I sometimes feel Not-so-stoked about it. Either finding free time to make posts, effort to sit on my tiny device and edit videos, write a short and sweet caption because our attention spans are tinnnnnny. And also the fact that the algorithm eats anything that it doesn’t calculate as worth viewing…IYKYK…

But that doesn’t mean that sharing this story has to be told in the form of a reel - plus some folks may not have social media accounts to follow us on, So… Here is the first post of a blog that I will use to tell our tale and hope that it is shared and read by those who are curious about our travels, the story behind it, or want to read about the Funny/not so funny stories we have to tell, as apart of our Grand Adventure and our mission to help Kent Journey On.

so without further dillydallly… here it goes… the beginning of our tale…

After having sold, donated, and packed up the majority of our belongings into a storage unit that wouldn’t be unpacked until October. On May 25, 2023 we left Denver and hit the road for a summer long trip that would take us across and around the country, hitting a large majority of the states, visiting with friends and family, and seeing new places over the course of four months. With no lease to hold us in the city each of us had called home for ages, (Vinny 8+ years and my whole entire life) we moved into our new-to-us 16 foot travel trailer with the only the essentials to travel the United States.

How did this long road trip come into vision you may ask?

Well, the plan all came while driving down i-70 back to Denver from visiting Vinny’s family in Fruita. During a discussion of where we might find ourselves living when our lease was up at the end of May, we also were considering the idea that the two of us had always wanted to take a month or so off from work to go see places like the Grand Canyon, Glacier Nat. Park, Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. Going back and forth between possibilities, what our hopes and dreams were, and how we might be able to organize logistics to make what we wanted happen. Vinny suddenly recalled a heart driven idea that he had a few years back after his best friend had passed away after suffering from a brain tumor and the Jounrey On Urns; The Acorn Project first began taking wind… the idea was to honor Kent, by spreading his ashes in across the country on a grand adventure using 100 acorn urns; exploring and making memories that would serve by allowing us to live and love this beautiful life, but to also allow an incredible individual one who lived, loved and inspired countless souls while on this earth for his 28 years of life, To journey on in his afterlife.

Kent before he passed, said to Vin and all his loved ones that he would be with us on all our adventures, living life through us and with us and that would allow him to see the beauty of this earth for years to come- for as long as we remember that he is in every sunrise and sunset, the stars at night and the wings of every hawk.

Our trip has surely been inspired by Kent’s incredible spirit and zest for the life he was given, Vinny and I have taken that zest into our own hearts and draw from it the desire to live the life we have been given - ups and downs- to fully live within each moment and fulfill dreams that we never thought would be possible to fulfill.

Here’s to our grand adventure, may the story unfold in due time, all while we enjoy the ride.

Peace, Love and Mud,

Sam
